The Camrose and Area Adult Learning Council (CALC) is funded through Alberta Advanced Education and Technology to provide programming in the areas of adult literacy, English as a second language, employability and lifelong learning.
What is
Lifelong Learning?
Lifelong learning is about continuing to acquire knowledge and skills throughout your lifetime to stay fresh and have up-to-date skills. This includes knowledge and skills in the workplace, personal development, physical well-being and citizenship. What is Literacy? Literacy is the ability to understand and use printed information in daily activities at home, at work, and in the community. People use their literacy skills to: Read to a child... Write a grocery list... Apply for a job... Find a street... Order from a menu Use a bank machine... Travel... Read a birthday card... Follow a recipe... Apply for a license Help with school work... Use a computer... Complete an Income Tax form... and much more
CALC is an umbrella organization for 2 other programs; the Camrose Family Literacy Program and the Camrose Adult Read & Write Program. Together we provide a wide range of literacy and learning services, programs and events which are outlined throughout the Learning, Arts & Recreation Guide.
